Our Millie’s Light Lives On Family Assistance Application is designed specifically to support families navigating the challenges of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. The assistance provided includes gift cards to help cover essential expenses such as lodging, meals, and fuel. Additionally, it offers support for monthly utility bills, helps with meals at home, and other related needs, ensuring families can focus more on their child’s care during this difficult time.

The Herd By The Numbers

Thanks to the unwavering generosity of our sponsors, below is the detailed breakdown of the pediatric families we have supported, as well as the agricultural scholarships we have proudly provided.

  • Each year, about 400,000 children and teens (ages 0–19) are diagnosed with cancer worldwide.

  • Cancer is a top cause of death from disease in children and teens.

  • Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor (MRT) is a rare and fast-growing cancer that mainly affects babies and toddlers under three years old. It can start in different parts of the body, most often in the:

    • Kidneys (called rhabdoid tumor of the kidney)

    • Brain or central nervous system (called Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor or AT/RT)

    • Liver (called MRT L), which is very rare.

  • About 20-25 new MRT cases happen each year. This means it affects about 1 in 1 million people.

  • Fewer than 1% of MRT cases start in the liver.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, families are suddenly faced with overwhelming and impossible choices. Everyday expenses like rent, groceries, and gas don’t pause or lessen, even as their entire world revolves around their child’s care and well-being. The Millie Moo Foundation steps in to support these families by providing financial assistance for housing, food, and more—offering hope and easing their burdens by giving them one less worry. This vital support grants families the freedom and peace of mind to focus on what matters most: hope, healing, and staying together during these challenging times.

“The last year has been a struggle for our family, so to have a foundation that offers support years after our journey began means the world to us. We are forever grateful for this help! Sweet Millie’s picture is hanging on our refrigerator next to all of our kids and their accomplishments.”

Millie DeClercq was the beloved daughter of Wesley and Gabriella DeClercq, dedicated Grain and Livestock farmers from Northwestern Illinois. In early September 2025, Millie was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer known as Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor (MRT), which had metastasized from her liver to her left lung. Despite courageous efforts, she passed away 19 days later.

The Millie Moo Foundation was established to honor Millie’s memory by providing vital support to families confronting similar devastating pediatric cancer diagnoses. Additionally, The Foundation is committed to empowering the next generation by offering scholarships to students pursuing careers in agriculture. Through these initiatives, we strive to create a lasting impact that reflects Millie’s spirit and supports families and communities affected by these profound challenges. Come join #MilliesMOOvement and help us make a difference!
