Mighty Marcus

When Marcus first started developing what looked like black eyes, his family knew something wasn’t right. After several appointments and growing concern when one of his eyes began to protrude, Marcus was sent for an urgent CT scan. That same night, his family found themselves in the ER in Iowa City, where Marcus quickly began treatment after additional testing.

Since then, Marcus has shown incredible strength through an intense journey that has included multiple rounds of chemotherapy, a major surgery, and two bone marrow transplants. His treatment continues with daily radiation and immunotherapy as his doctors work through complications from a severe allergic reaction to one of the medications he will need later in treatment.

Throughout everything, Marcus has continued to show an amazing spirit — smiling through even the hardest days.

Like many families facing pediatric cancer, the financial strain can quickly become overwhelming. With insurance challenges, mounting medical bills, and travel for treatment, the Millie Moo Foundation was honored to provide Marcus’ family with gift cards to help with daily expenses and travel needs during this difficult time.

Stories like Marcus’ are the reason behind everything we do. While our community sees the events, fundraisers, and campaigns happening throughout the year, they all lead back to moments like this — supporting families walking through the unimaginable.
