Joshua’s Fight
n April 2025, Joshua — the youngest in a family that has already endured far more than most — was diagnosed at age 15 with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. From that moment on, life shifted completely. Hospital stays, oncology appointments, and frontline treatment at Stead quickly became part of their daily reality.
Joshua’s parents describe themselves as a self-reliant family, but this past year has been humbling. When Joshua was diagnosed, his mom pivoted immediately to manage his care full-time. Shortly after, there was a short employment gap for the family creating a cascade of financial strain during an already overwhelming season.
After their car broke down, the family became a one-car household, creating serious safety concerns when it came to getting Joshua to and from the hospital. The added cost of fuel, repairs, and medical travel made it nearly impossible to save enough to fix the vehicle — and the stress of not being able to come and go freely for urgent care weighed heavily on the entire family.
The Millie Moo Foundation, in conjunction with Hughes Tire and Sharpe Towing And Recovery LLC, was able to complete the necessary car repairs — restoring not just transportation, but peace of mind. Knowing they can safely get Joshua to the hospital when needed has made a meaningful difference in their day-to-day lives.
This support is a reminder that help doesn’t look the same for every family. At the Millie Moo Foundation, assistance is customized to meet each family’s unique needs, whether that means travel, food, housing, or — in this case — reliable transportation.
Because of donors, partners, and those willing to step in when families need it most, Joshua’s family can focus on what matters most: his healing, strength, and continued journey forward.
Thank you for helping us rally around families like Joshua’s and for being part of the village that carries them through.
